Belgacom TV wins Jupiler League rights to 2011
June 4, 2008 - Belgian telco Belgacom has won the broadcasting rights to the Belgian first division football championship games (Jupiler League) for the next three seasons for its "Belgacom TV" IPTV service.
Belgacom made a global offer of €44.7mn for each season, with the telco acquiring all live rights plus the rights to broadcast highlights on a free-to-air channel, for which it will use its own dedicated football channel as well as cooperate with public broadcasters RTBF for French-speaking regions and VRT for Dutch-speaking parts. Belgacom's football channel, called 11, will continue to offer fans features such as Multi Live, which enables subscribers to watch all the week's matches simultaneously at a set time on the one channel.
Jupiler League games have been broadcasted for the past three years on Belgacom TV, which now has around 350,000 subscribers.
