Latens partners with ZyXEL
June 4, 2008 - Content security firm Latens has partnered with ZyXEL, a Taiwanese provider of broadband access solutions, to offer low-cost and content-secure IP/hybrid set-top box solutions.
The partnership involves the integration of Latens' conditional access solutions with ZyXEL's STB-1000 set-top box series, including the STB-1003 and STB-1001H models. Both models offer IP video services, including standard-definition and high-definition, video on demand and IPTV, based on MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 compression.
“We are delighted to have formed this partnership," said Jean-Paul Heron, Client Integrations Manager for Latens. "It enables ZyXEL to provide a robustly secure set-top box with the power and flexibility to ensure that operators can launch IPTV services that scale efficiently in terms of customer-base, complexity and breadth of service offering. The integration was made far simpler through the utilisation of our new toolkit, Latens STIK. The advantages of STIK do not end at integration; STIK also makes it much simpler for Latens and ZyXEL to control and upgrade security and other STB functionality."
Latens' Set-Top Box Integration Kit (STIK) is designed to enable easy integration of Latens' conditional access solution for set-top box vendors, and features example code, an automated test suite and the option of initial self certification.
