Dreampark commits to SVG for middleware
June 3, 2008 - Swedish firm Dreampark has committed to the new Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) standard for use in its Dreamgallery IPTV middleware.
The company reports that initial tests have indicated that SVG brings "dramatic" improvements to the perceived response times and speed on the client end of IPTV services, as well offering a solution for the visualisation of user interface graphics in HD.
"SVG will bring the browser technology to a new level, our tests have shown it," said Björn Lang, CTO of Dreampark. "We aim at doing HD graphics with better performance than native clients do SD graphics today. Vendors of proprietary native middleware should now have a really strong reason to re-think their platform strategies. With SVG boosting the performance of browsers I can no longer see any real reasons to stick to static and maintenance-intensive native clients."
Dreampark’s operator clients for its Dreamgallery middleware include Tus Telekom, Dansk Bredbånd, Canal Digital, Comvie, FastTV, Viasat and TV Almansa.
