Aksh Optifibre to deliver IPTV services over BSNL network
June 3, 2008 - Indian ISP Aksh Optifibre has issued a short notice to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) stating that it has signed an agreement with Indian telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) to deliver IPTV services over the state-owned carrier's broadband network.
The services will be delivered to 20 Indian cities covered by BSNL's network, with no timeframe or specific locations revealed in the statement. Aksh Optifibre already provides IPTV services to subscribers in Mumbai and Delhi, for which it uses the existing broadband network of Indian telco Mahanagar Telephone Nigram Ltd. (MTNL), and offers services such as video on demand (VOD), broadband, broadcast TV, time-shifted TV and video conferencing.
