Telenor selects Ixia platform to measure performance of IP-based services
June 2, 2008 - Norwegian telco Telenor has deployed Ixia's IxRave IP service verification platform to measure the end-to-end performance of IP-based services delivered to its business customers across Scandinavia.
The telco will use IxRave to guarantee network reliability and customers' quality of service (QoS) and quality of experience (QoE) for services delivered over its enterprise layer 3 VPN (L3 VPN) network, including IP telephony. IxRave will also enable Telenor to remotely measure complex service level agreement (SLA) metrics and verify SLA commitments on demand.
"Telenor was looking for a solution to actively monitor our next-generation IP backbone network and new services such as IP telephony,” said Ingrid R. Lorange, Vice President of Telenor's operations in Norway. "We selected Ixia's IxRave because it provides 24/7 monitoring of service quality — from end to end — at both the network and service layer. As a result, we are able to spot and correct any issue before a customer is aware of it.”
Telenor has also recently selected a monitoring solution from Agama Technologies for its consumer IPTV services, with the deployment planned to cover all of Scandinavia for a three-year period.
