In this third instalment in a series of video interviews conducted with
high-profile operators at the recent IPTV World Forum in London, we
hear from Joćo Mendes Pedro, IPTV Business Manager for Portuguese telco
Sonaecom. Snr. Mendes discusses the reasons for installing a
fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network that can offer a compelling IPTV
service in a country where cable has over 40% penetration, including
unlimited bandwidth and multi-room services, and the "killer
application" its own VOD service is proving to be.
Sonaecom announced last February that it is investing 240mn in an FTTH network that will pass over 1mn homes and cover around 25% of the country's population by completion
