City Telecom posts modest growth in combined broadband, voice and IPTV numbers
May 20, 2008 - Hong Kong telco City Telecom has revealed in its results for the six-month period ended 29 February that it added 43,000 customers to its broadband, voice and IPTV services during the period to reach a total of 726,000.
During the period the company launched hybrid HD terrestrial/IPTV set-top boxes for all customers in Hong Kong, with off-net customers having access to the set-top box via a rental plan. "The interim results this year had met our target with solid growth in our fixed telecom network business," said Ricky Wong, Chairman of City Telecom.
Consolidated turnover for the six-month period rose 10.9% year-on-year to reach HK$ 623.8mn (US$ 79.97mn), while net profits increased 162% by the same comparison to reach HK$ 47.8mn.
