Telefónica O2 Czech Republic adds multi-room viewing for O2 TV

May 19, 2008 - Telefónica O2 Czech Republic has added a new service called Multi to its IPTV offering, enabling customers to watch different channels from the service on two TV sets located in different parts of the home.

The service costs CZK 50 (US$ 3.11) per month, and customers must also rent a second set-top box for CZK 150 per month, or can purchase it outright for CZK 3,499. A new modem with two ports is also required, costing CZK 1.

"Nowadays, many households have two televisions," said Jan Karas, Director of Segment Marketing for Telefónica O2. "It is only logical that if they get O2 TV, members of a family want to watch different channels from its wide selection on both sets. And the Multi service lets them do just that. The Multi service works with any television equipped with a SCART or HDMI connector."

The company is also running a special offer during the month of May, offering a 50% discount off the monthly fee for the first three months with the activation of any basic channel package including O2 TV Kino (Cinema), O2 TV Zábava (Entertainment), or O2 TV Sport. For new customers, activation, the modem, and set-top box rental cost one crown each and can receive additional packages such as Děti Plus (Children Plus), Dokumenty Plus (Documentaries Plus), Filmy Plus (Films Plus), and Sport Plus for CZK 2 for the first two months.
