Three US telcos form Midwest Video Solutions to deliver headend services
May 15, 2008 - Three independent US telcos based in Wisconsin have formed a joint venture called Midwest Video Solutions which will deliver headend services to other telecoms providers, offering over 200 channels of TV and music, including high-definition content.
The joint venture is formed by Midwest Telnut, based in Westby; Tri-county Telecom, based in Strum; and Wisconsin Independent Network, based in Eau Claire. Video signals are to be coordinated from two “geographically diverse” downlink facilities and the aggregated video streams then transported to other providers over a redundant fibre optic network, with one downlink facility located in the US and the other in Japan.
Midwest Video Solutions reports that it has 16 video service providers already receiving signals from either of the two individual headend facilities.
