Pace wins BT contract
May 13, 2008 – Pace has won a contract from BT to supply the latter’s next generation V-box set-top box (STB), following BT’s previous deal with the STB division of Royal Philips Electronics, which was recently acquired by Pace.
Pace is to supply hybrid HD-capable personal video recorders (PVRs) for the telco’s “BT Vision” IPTV service, providing access to up to 40 Freeview TV channels and 30 radio channels, the ability to record 80 hours of content, access to an on-demand library and a variety of interactive applications. The new V-box will use Microsoft Mediaroom IPTV middleware and a conditional access solution from Nagravision.
“We are very pleased to announce this contract, working with the team that launched the first-generation V-box,” said Dan Marks, CEO of BT Vision. “Our medium-term goal is to secure two to three million subscribers for our BT Vision service and we are looking forward to making this vision a reality in cooperation with Pace.”
Deliveries are expected to commence in 2009.
