Comstar-Ukraine introduces IPTV service in Odessa
May 8, 2008 – Comstar-Ukraine, a subsidiary of Russian telco Comstar-UTS, has launched a double-play service in the Ukrainian city of Odessa, offering IPTV and high-speed Internet services.
The service launched on May 5 and offers an EPG service called TELEGUIDE for scheduled broadcast content, REMINDER to notify subscribers of upcoming favourite programmes and movies, and a DVR function called TSTV. The double-play package also provides a static public IP address and STREAM-POST email service.
“It’s thanks to the new generation network that we have a chance to provide the subscribers with such a great choice of versatile services, and packetise them,” said Vladimir Petrov, General Director of Comstar-Ukraine. “Our next step shall be triple-play to provide VoIP over the same NGN network. We plan to launch this type of service in Odessa as early as Q2 to Q3 2008.”
