Granada International signs content deal with Chunghwa Telecom

May 6, 2008 – UK content provider Granada International has signed a content agreement with Taiwanese telco Chunghwa Telecom for the provision of over 300 hours of high-definition programming on the latter’s Multimedia On-Demand (MOD) service.

Titles acquired in the deal include recently-launched dramas My Boy Jack, Murdoch Mysteries, Durham County and Ballet Shoes; multiple series of factual programmes Planet Science and Brainiac; and three series of Agatha Christie’s Poirot; as well as feature films such as Bugsy Malone and The Fabulous Baker Boys.

“Granada International’s programming is so diverse and has strong appeal across all age groups,” said Chao Min, Director of Digital Content Development Department at Chunghwa Telecom.  “We are sure that their high-definition programming will appeal to our many subscribers throughout Taiwan.”

Chunghwa Telecom reportedly has a total of just under 450,000 subscribers for its MOD service.
