NDS profits up 21% in Q1

May 1, 2008 – NDS has posted its results for the first quarter of this year, with revenues up 20% year-on-year to reach US$ 213.3mn, and operating profit up 21% by the same comparison to reach US$ 43.3mn.

The company delivered 10.6mn smart cards in the first three months of this year, compared to 6.4mn in the same period of last year, and deployed 6.7mn middleware clients in the quarter, reaching a cumulative total of 83.1mn at the end of the March 2008.  NDS deployed 1.7mn DVR clients between January and March 2008, reaching a cumulative total of 12.1mn.

“This has been another good quarter for NDS,” said Dr. Abe Peled, Chairman and CEO of NDS.  “We are particularly pleased with our continuing progress on entering the German pay-TV market, and our additional wins in India.  Our CA contract extension with Viasat and expanding the relationship to include our MediaHighway middleware are also gratifying and clear evidence of our focus on customer support.”
