Pirelli selects Sigma media processors for IPTV set-top boxes

April 22, 2008 – Sigma Designs has announced that its SMP8634 media processor has been selected by Pirelli Broadband Solutions to power their IPTV set-top boxes (STBs), currently being deployed by two “major” European operators.

Pirelli’s range of hybrid set-top boxes combine both digital terrestrial television and IPTV capability and support legacy and new encoding systems such as H.264 and VC-1 at both standard- and high-definition.
