OJSC North West Telecom commences Avangard TV in Novgorod region
April 21, 2008 – Russian telco OJSC North West Telecom and its subsidiary OOO Novgorod Deitacom have commenced commercial operation of the “Avangard TV” IPTV service in the city of Veliky Novgorod.
The Novgorod region is reported as the second region in the North-West Federal District where OJSC North West Telecom has offered its IPTV service under the Avangard TV brand. The next cities to receive the service will be Borovichi and Staraya Russa.
Avangard TV offers a video on demand library of around 100 popular feature films of various genres, a personal video recorder, a “view from the start” option and “TV programme archive” option to allow subscribers to view programme which have already finished.
The service offers a variety of channel packages, including “The Premiere”, which offers 33 channels including international channels such as CNN and Hallmark and other programming; “The Big Premiere” package, offering 55 channels including programming from well-known international networks such as CNN, the BBC and Discovery as well as various music and entertainment channels; and thematic packages such as “Adult Stories” and “Football”.
OJSC North West Telecom started commercial operation of the Avangard TV service in December of last year.
