SES AMERICOM certifies Harmonic compression solutions for IP-PRIME platform
April 15, 2008 – SES AMERICOM has certified the use of Harmonic’s DiviCom Electra 7000 high-definition MPEG-4 AVC (h.264) encoders and Ion AVC standard-definition encoders for the compression of local channels in SES AMERICOM’s IP-PRIME IPTV distribution platform.
IP-PRIME is a turnkey broadcast and on-demand TV service for telco and broadband service providers, enabling them to deliver IPTV services via a cost-effective, managed solution from SES AMERICOM. The IP-PRIME Broadcast Center in Vernon Valley, New Jersey transports 299 video channels, including 36 HD channels, to the headend or central office that ultimately sends them to subscribers’ homes.
