Free adds 802.11n support to HD Freebox

April 10, 2008 – French ISP Free has updated its HD Freebox router by incorporating 802.11n WiFi support into the unit, as well as integrating the three (previously external) WiFi antennae.

The new WiFi standard is described as delivering transfer speeds that are up to five times higher than the previous 802.11g standard, as well as significantly improving signal range.  The Freebox is connected to a set-top box for delivery of IPTV via powerline technology, with branded “Freeplugs” included in the package.

The Freebox service includes high-definition IPTV, a DVR and high-speed broadband for €29.99 per month.
