EPM to launch IPTV in middle of 2008
April 1, 2008 – Colombian telco EPM has revealed in local business daily Portafolio that it plans to launch its IPTV service in the middle of this year, one year after initially forecast.
Carlos Gabriel Álvarez, Vice President of Resources for the telco, told the newspaper that EPM will also increase its network coverage to reach 60% of the capital Bogota by year-end. The lack of an integrated triple-play package of telephony, Internet and television was attributed by the company as one of the main factors affecting its revenues last year, which fell 0.7% compared to 2006. EPM is accordingly aiming to ensure 75% of its sales derive from package bundles this year, according to Portafolio.
The telco aims to end 2008 with 33,351 subscribers to its IPTV service, and increase this figure to 250,000 by 2011.
