SingTel selects BrightDrive for mio TV
March 31, 2008 – Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) has selected a BrightDrive media recording system from Bright Systems to provide the primary workflow infrastructure for a new tapeless post production facility for its IPTV service, called “mio TV”.
SD or HD source tapes are captured into BrightDrive using dedicated ingest stations, and a range of systems (including 11 Final Cut Pro/Kona systems) are able to access multiple real-time streams of 2k media simultaneously across the network, allowing processes such as editing and encoding to take place at the same time. The final encoded files are then pushed across to mio TV’s streaming servers.
“mio TV requires a very intensive, high turn-around postproduction operation with tight integration between the various systems,” said Kevin Liow, Senior Manager of Video Operations (IPTV & content) for SingTel. “We chose BrightDrive because of its proven technology and its ability to provide high-performance media sharing across different hardware and software platforms. By enabling our colleagues to work in a range of formats and share content in a collaborative data-centric environment, BrightDrive enables us to achieve a high degree of flexibility from our postproduction facilities and maximise output without compromising quality.”
BrightDrive is being installed and supported by The Media Village, Bright Systems’ business partner for south-east Asia.
