TUŠ TELEKOM chooses Edgeware Orbit 2x on-demand server system for IPTV service
March 12, 2008 – Edgeware, a provider of server systems for on-demand TV services, today announced at the IPTV World Forum that Slovenian telco TUŠ TELEKOM has launched on-demand IPTV services using Edgeware’s Orbit 2x server system.
Edgeware’s Orbit 2x server system uses solid state flash memory storage to achieve scalability, quality of service, reliability and low total cost of ownership. The system enables deployments of interactive TV services such as time shift TV, video on demand, network personal video recording (nPVR) and dynamic ad insertion. Edgeware’s Convoy system provides fully dynamic asset propagation capability for the most popular content to the Orbit 2x streaming platform.
“Deploying our new TUŠ TELEKOM TV service, we needed a reliable, cost-efficient and future proof server solution,” said Marc Witteveen, IPTV Project Manager at TUŠ TELEKOM. “We are happy that we have found Edgeware’s Orbit 2x server technology, which made it possible for us to invest in servers that scale exceptionally well when our customer base grows.”
TUŠ TELEKOM offers quad-play services in its domestic market, which includes fast Internet access via xDSL technologies, IP television and fixed and mobile telephony, marketed under the brand name Tušmobil.
