PLDT puts IPTV on hold for this year
March 7, 2008 – The Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) has revealed that it will focus on laying down the network infrastructure this year before it considers launching IPTV.
PLDT President and CEO Napoleon Nazareno said that the company is “closely monitoring” developments in IPTV but stressed that it has not immediate plans to deploy: “No, not this year, we still have to put the network up first,” Nazareno said during a briefing.
PLDT has stated that it now has 100,000 subscribers on its next-generation network.
