Tiscali CEO resigns amid talks of takeover
February 29, 2008 – Italian telco Tiscali, which has operations in various European countries including IPTV in its home country and the UK, has announced that CEO Tommaso Pompei has resigned and company Director Mario Rosso will replace him
Recent reports have suggested internal management disagreements over the operator’s future, and indicated the possibility of a takeover or merger. The company said in a statement that they still intend to pursue the targets include in their 2008-2012 business plan.
A company spokesman said that Tiscali will “explore options to further enhance value for shareholders thanks to the consolidation process underway in the European telecommunications sector”. In the past Vodafone, BT and FastWeb have been linked with a possible takeover.
