Telekom Austria selects ADB-3800W set-top boxes for IPTV service

February 28, 2008 – Advanced Digital Broadcast (ADB) has announced that its ADB-3800W set-top box has been selected by Telekom Austria for the telco’s IPTV service.

The ADB-3800W is capable of standard-definition and high-definition signal reception and compatible with H.264/MPEG-4 AVC.  The unit features a single-chip microprocessor and HDMI interface, and is compatible with interactive applications such as Web browsing.

“Telekom Austria selected ADB as a result of its proven ability as a trusted and experienced supplier of set-top boxes to the IPTV market,” said Helmut Leopold, Head of Platform and Technology Management at Telekom Austria.  “We needed a partner who could offer a very efficient route to market and ADB had the necessary experience in hardware and software integration required to meet our launch expectations.  We anticipate that there will be an overwhelming response for our IPTV service which is a very important part of our triple-play service offering targeted at residential customers.”

Telekom Austria’s IPTV service includes 82 TV channels, a video on demand service with movies, TV series and documentaries, and information services offering news, traffic information and radio services.  Shipments of the ADB-3800W have already commenced.
