Swisscom adds four HD channels to Bluewin TV service
February 27, 2008 – Swiss telco Swisscom has revealed that it will add four high-definition channels to its “Bluewin TV” IPTV service by the end of this month, as well as launch a new basic version of the service.
The high-definition channels to be added to the Bluewin TV plus service are BBC HD (English), Anixe HD (German), Arte HD (French) and the new channel HD suise from the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation. The first highlight from HD suise will be high-definition broadcasting of the UEFA EURO 2008 tournament. These join over 120 channels and more than 80 radio stations already offered on the service, as well as an on-demand library of over 500 titles
Bluewin TV plus costs CHF 29 (US$ 27) per month, and comes with a personal video recorder offering functions such as series programming, recording and live pause functions. If a subscriber lives in an area with a sufficiently fast connection, the HD channels will be activated automatically.
Swisscom has also announced Bluewin TV basic, offering the above content minus the HD channels and PVR, and costing CHF 19 per month.
