Deutsche Telekom launches IPTV innovation competition
February 21, 2008 – Deutsche Telekom has launched an IPTV innovation competition, aimed at small- and mid-sized companies, start-ups and individuals and carrying a prize of €1mn.
The German and international developer community is invited to develop interactive TV software, and after initial selection ten applicants will be given the opportunity to build a prototype using developer kits supplied by Deutsche Telekom. In a further stage three finalists will then be able to realise their ideas directly on the Deutsche Telekom platform.
“Our Entertain product already makes us a driving force in the future-oriented market of IP-based television,” said René Obermann, Chairman of the company. “We want to give creative developers the opportunity to realise their own ideas for the future of interactive television and to help shape new services.
The submission period for project ideas will commence in March during CeBIT.
