Broadcast International wins IPTV/digital signage customer for video compression software

February 15, 2008 – Broadcast International has announced that it has won a European IPTV/digital signage customer for its CodecSys video compression software.

SkyRec, an Italian provider of personalised in-store communications, will use CodecSys to deploy an IPTV network in 335 McDonald’s restaurants across Italy.  The project will be carried out in collaboration with Samsung Italy, which will supply the in-store monitors.  The new network will deliver proprietary video content including live news, weather and sports, as well as pre-recorded commercial content.

“SkyRec is breaking new ground in the deployment of private IPTV networks, and Broadcast International is the perfect partner,” said Enzo Palazzolo, Chairman and CEO of SkyRec.  “Using their technology, we will be able to provide the state-of-the-art video experience that customers want, while minimising the costs typically associated with high-bandwidth, high-definition video.”

SkyRec expects to deploy its network within the next 60 days.
