Teleste acquires Ortikon to strengthen IPTV solutions

February 7, 2008 – Teleste, a Finnish provider of broadband data communication systems and solutions, has announced that it has acquired Ortikon Interactive, a provider of integrated software solutions for video delivery.

Teleste believes that this acquisition expands Teleste’s provision of IPTV systems, and in turn enables Teleste to serve telecoms operators in addition to cable operators.  The two companies have cooperated before, when Teleste has delivered Ortikon products as part of Teleste’s complete headend systems.

Ortikon is to be part of Teleste Digital Video and Broadband Solutions business unit, and current CEO Seppo Kalli will remain in his position.  The financial terms of the agreement were not released.
