Nortel and Widevine sign reseller agreement for content protection solutions
February 5, 2008 – Nortel and Widevine have announced that they have signed a reseller agreement whereby Widevine’s content security solutions have been integrated into Nortel’s IPTV solution for telco operators.
The agreement enables Widevine to sell, service and support Widevine’s downloadable conditional access and digital rights management products globally. “Providing proven content security as part of our IPTV suite provides a better solution to our telco customers, as it allows them to obtain content from programmers and studios with the confidence that their intellectual property will be protected,” said Sameer Sheth, General Manager of Video Solutions for Nortel. “Using Widevine’s security suite provides our IPTV solution with both best-in-class security as well as support for forensic watermarking – giving greater depth to our IPTV capabilities.”
Brian Baker, CEO of Widevine, added: “The challenge is providing a broadband operator with an IPTV solution that is tightly integrated with a robust content protection system. Nortel provides a key global partnership for Widevine. This agreement enables Widevine to continue to work with Nortel to provide a scalable and mature content protection system, which is critical for enabling operators to protect revenue streams and acquire premium broadcast and VOSD content.”
