Canal Digital increases IPTV footprint to 500,000 Swedish homes
December 14, 2007 – IPTV operator Canal Digital has increased the number of households in Sweden that can receive its packages by 150% following a new distribution agreement with Svenska Fibernät, bring the total footprint to 500,000 homes.
The deal will expand the Svenska Fibernät TV service to include channel packages similar to Canal Digital’s DTH satellite service. Subscribers will be able to access the Basic, Family and Canal+ Total packages and three on-demand options from CMore Select, Film2Home and SF Anytime.
“Broadband TV as a distribution model is experiencing a strong upturn and we have a clear focus on growth in this area,” said Patrik Hofbauer, CEO of Canal Digital Sweden. “During the past year, we have seen a steady growth in this area. Now, the time is right to market broadband TV to a wider number of households.
