O2 TV reaches 70,000 customers
December 14, 2007 – Czech telco Telefónica O2 has announced that it has passed 70,000 subscribers for its “O2 TV” IPTV service, up from the 60,000 announced at the beginning of last month.
“The growing number of O2 TV subscribers indicates that customers are reacting to our efforts to continuously improve our provided services,” said Matts Johansen, Chief Marketing Officer for Telefónica O2. “We are expanding the film database of the Videotéka (Video Library) with the latest domestic and international titles on a regular basis. Another new feature is the introduction of the NOVA cinema channel, which is complementing an already abundant offer of film channels.”
The telco is also launching test transmissions of TV NOVA in high-definition in mid-December, joining the channel Czech Television which is already test broadcast in high-definition. “The switch to HD transmission is one of the timeliest trends in recent years,” said company spokesman Martin Žabka. “At this time, Telefónica O2 is offering Czech television and now TV NOVA, and intends to work intensively on further implementation of this technology.”
The O2 TV service was launched in September of last year, and currently offers 50 channels, including documentaries, films, drama series, 3D films and children’s programming, as well as other interactive services.
