Tiscali signs content deal with Sky Italia
December 13, 2007 – Italian telco Tiscali has signed an agreement with Sky Italia to distribute Sky TV content packages on its new IPTV service, called Tiscali TV.
Tiscali launched the IPTV service last Tuesday in the cities of Cagliari, Milan and Rome, and will continue expanding the reach of its network over the course of next year. The company is reportedly aiming for an 11% direct customer penetration nationwide from 2009.
Mario Mariani, CEO of Tiscali Italia, commented that since completing the agreement with Sky, the company is now in talks for a similar deal with Italy’s largest private broadcaster, Mediaset SpA, and hopes to reach an agreement soon. The Tiscali TV service at present offers over 50 channels.
