VSNL and Marshall Media partner to launch VOD service in India

December 12, 2007 – Indian telco Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (VSNL) has partnered with US firm Marshall Media to provide high-definition American infotainment to VSNL’s broadband customers.

Marshall Media will supply VSNL with VOD programming, ranging from infotainment to comedy shows, including the series “Road to the American Dream”, produced by Marshall Media.  In the future, Marshall Media also plans to offer VSNL and its broadband customers live HD broadcasting for various types of events, via VSNL’s INMARSAT satellite communications service.

“This is a great opportunity for both companies,” said Gary Kaufman, Vice President of Marshall Media’s digital media division.  “VSNL has access to an enormous audience, and we are in a position to deliver the relevant, high-quality video product to serve it.”

VSNL currently has a subscriber base of 500,000 broadband and Internet users.
