LG Dacom launches IPTV service in Korea
December 11, 2007 – LG Dacom, Korea’s third largest fixed-line operator, has launched its own IPTV service, called “myLGtv”, according to local reports.
The service is available as a part of a package which also includes broadband Internet access and telephony. LG Dacom claims that its service is as much as 15% cheaper than those provided by competitors KT and Hanaro Telecom, adding that it also offers more high-definition content than its rivals. The service has initially been launched with 3,000 programmes, and this will be expanded to more than 20,000 by the first half of 2008.
Hanaro Telecom’s “hana TV” service currently leads the Korean IPTV market with 660,000 subscribers, while KT has accumulated 230,000 subscribers for its “Mega TV” service.
