December 11, 2007 – Tilgin, a Swedish provider of IP customer premises equipment (CPE) for triple-play, broadband and IMS-based services, has been selected as a new member of the Open IPTV Forum, it has been announced by Forum Steering Group Chairman Yun Chao Hu.
The Open TV Forum is a pan-industry initiative that seeks to produce end to end specifications for IPTV in order to take the next generation of IPTV into a mass market service. Tilgin joins other new members such as Alcatel-Lucent, Amino Communications, Deutsche Telekom, Huawei, LG Electronics, Sun Microsystems, Telefonica, Telia Sonera, Verimatrix and ZTE Corporation.
Tilgin will be contributing particular expertise in CPE solutions for delivering an “expanded IPTV experience”, with key contributions related to operator managed Home Gateways and IP set-top boxes, Remote Management Systems (RMS) and IMS system design for CPE.
“We are a full supporter of the Forum’s agenda to drive next-generation IPTV services beyond those currently being deployed,” said Ola Berglund, CEO of Tilgin. “Today’s highly competitive market has created a situation where operators are rushing into the triple-play arena with an increasing number of “me too” services. Our business is to provide CPE technology solutions that can help operators differentiate themselves and create long-term sustainable revenue streams from the opportunities offered by convergence.”
