PCCW boosts IPTV deployment with Juniper Networks broadband services routers
December 7, 2007 – Juniper Networks has announced that Hong Kong-based telco PCCW has increased the scale and performance of its broadband network with E320 Broadband Services Routers, leveraging its existing installed base of Juniper E-series routers.
PCCW has combined the E-series portfolio with the policy management of the SDX-300 Service Delivery System to offer services such as its IPTV service “now TV”, along with its interactive and video on demand service, Netvigator broadband Internet access and the fixed-line PCCW eye multimedia service.
“We have adopted the E-series platforms since now TV was launched in 2003, and we are impressed with the performance of Juniper E-series routers, especially the E320,” said Dr. Allen Wong, Director of Product Development and Management for PCCW. “Its proven high performance, scalability and density enabled us to efficiently extend our now TV and broadband services at scale. We offer a range of innovative media content and interactive services across different platforms which require a highly secure, scalable and a manageable broadband routing infrastructure that adapts to change.”
Juniper reports that in the two years since it introduced the E320, it has shipped over 800 platforms to over 70 service provider customers worldwide.
