Panama’s CTV Telecom selects AmiNET125 STB for IPTV service
December 6, 2007 – Amino has announced that Panama’s CTV Telecom has selected its AmiNET125 set-top box (STB) for the telco’s IPTV service.
CTV has built a 100 percent fibre optic network in Panama City to deliver the new IPTV service, offering subscribers telephone and broadband services in addition to video services, which have over 100 broadcast, music and on-demand channels. The IPTV service was launched in August of this year. Amino reports that an initial order for a “substantial volume” of AmiNET125 STBs has been placed by the telco, and further orders are expected as the delivery area extends to the rest of the country.
“Amino is a valued partner and has gone far beyond just selling us a STB,” said Juan McKenzie, Director at CTV Telecom. “Throughout the deployment we’ve benefited from Amino’s vast IPTV knowledge and experience which has helped us to develop the business and avoid common pitfalls. The unrivalled interoperability of Amino technology has also enabled a quick and seamless integration with our other IPTV partners.”
The AmiNET125 features a programmable multi-codec digital signal processor (DSP) capable of MPEG-2, H.264 and WMV9.
