Italian telco Wind launches IPTV service

December 6, 2007 – Italian telco Wind Telecomunicazioni has launched its IPTV service, called Infostrada TV, according to reports.

The service offers all free to air digital terrestrial channels (RAI 1-2-3, Mediaset Canale 5, Italia 1, Rete4, La7, MTV, AllMusic, Sport Italia, SI Live 24, children’s channel Boing) as well as channels from Sky Italia and international channels including BBC World, Euronews, TV5 and TVE.

The channels are included for a monthly fee of €7, and activation of the service is priced at €99, which includes the Infostrada TV Box personal video recorder (PVR) capable of recording 100 hours of TV.  Wind is currently running a promotional offer of activation for €49.50.

Subscribers will also have access to Sky Italia’s premium services, with various options starting at €36 per month for combined basic and cinema or sports channels.

Wind Telecomunicazioni’s new offering joins existing IPTV services from Telecom Italia and FASTWEB.

A spokesperson for the telco was unavailable for comment at the time of writing.
