Motorola delivers PowerBroadband system to Marriott International hotels
November 29, 2007 – Motorola and Marriott International have announced that they are teaming up to deliver enhanced business and entertainment services such as IPTV, high-speed Internet and other enhanced connectivity services to Marriott hotel guests.
Motorola’s PowerBroadband system has recently been deployed in over 15,000 Marriott-branded guestrooms in hotels including the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, VA, the Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, D.C., and the Orlando World Center Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, FL.
“We are excited about the success we saw with the deployment of Motorola’s mT2a system into two of the largest Marriott branded hotels in the Washington, D.C. area and the 2,000-room Orlando World Center,” said Lou Paladeau, Vice President Operations Technology for Marriott. “While the primary application supported today is high-speed Internet access, the new broadband infrastructure will enable additional guest services such as IPTV, movie and video downloads, voice over IP, wireless access and dual-mode cell phones. We will be working closely with Motorola to define some of these new services to create a seamless and enhanced travelling experience for both the business traveller and the guest who is on vacation.”
One of the notable features of the Motorola mT2a PowerBroadband system is the m2 Wallplate, which directly snaps on over existing telephone wall plates found in hotel guestrooms and contains all power and broadband modules within the Wallplate, eliminating the need for separate broadband modems and power supplies.
