Wind to rollout IPTV service in Italy by Christmas 2007

November 20, 2007 – Italian telco Wind is reportedly preparing its new IPTV service for launch in Italy by this Christmas, joining established IPTV service provider FASTWEB and Telecom Italia’s new Alice Home TV service on the market.

Wind’s Director General, Fabrizio Bona, has said that Wind will not be a content producer but only a distributor.  The executive added that prices for the new service will be low, in line with the company’s strategy, and there will also be the possibility of combining other fixed line services such as voice and broadband Internet.

Wind’s new IPTV service will offer all of the Sky Italia channels, and a variety of other thematic channels that will be added at a later stage.  Subscribers will be offered the latest Motorola set-top box model, to be distributed exclusively in Italy, which will manage by IPTV and DTT channels and includes a 160GB hard drive.
