ViewCast’s Niagara Pro streaming media encoder selected to deliver 2007 MTV Europe Music Awards live via the Web
November 16, 2007 – ViewCast has announced that its Niagara Pro streaming media encoder was selected by Garland Partners, a UK-based reseller of digital video streaming and IPTV solutions, to stream the 2007 MTV Europe Music Awards live via the Internet.
The awards were held on November 1 in Munich’s OlympiaHalle, and featured acts such as Avril Lavigne, Snoop Dogg, Nelly Furtado, the Foo Fighters and Muse. Garland Partners was asked by MTV to assist in implementing a Web streaming solution for the show. Working alongside ViewCast, Garland Partners provided on-site technical assistance to MTV as it deployed two Niagara Pro units to cover the shows presentations and performances.
“We designed the Niagara Pro to provide professional-grade performance around the clock in demanding streaming applications, and the system is a perfect fit for events such as the 2007 MTV Europe Music Awards,” said Gary Klembara, Senior Vice President of ViewCast. “MTV has always pushed the boundaries of media and technology to provide viewers with fresh content, delivered in an innovative fashion. With live streaming of this year’s show on the Web, the network continues this tradition.”
