AT&T forms international programming agreement with SES AMERICOM’s IP-PRIME
November 15, 2007 – SES AMERICOM has announced that it has signed an agreement with AT&T to supply the latter’s “U-verse” IPTV service with international programming via SES AMERICOM’s IP-PRIME platform.
IP-PRIME will receive and encode the video and then uplink the programmes to the IP-PRIME satellites, which in turn will deliver the content to AT&T’s video super hub offices for distribution to U-verse customers.
“The United States’ ethnic population is a fast growing and dynamic sector,” said Rob Thun, AT&T’s Senior Vice President of Programming. “By securing additional international programming from IP-PRIME, we are reaffirming our commitment to meeting the diverse needs and interests of our growing subscriber base. The AT&T U-verse Internet Protocol platform allows us to deliver unparalleled consumer choice, and through agreements such as that with IP-PRIME, we can capitalise on these advantages to provide our customers with the best international programming across all three screens.”
