MatrixStream launches High Definition IPTV Platform over Coax for Service Providers. April 4, 2005-MatrixStream Technologies, Inc., will demonstrate its patent-pending end-to-end 720P IPTV platform solution over TMT Coaxial Networks HomeRAN-HDâ„¢ system, at the NCTA (National Cable & Telecommunications Association) 2005 Show in San Francisco, April 3-5.
TMT’s HomeRAN-HD™ system provides a High Speed Multimedia Home Network solution for high definition IPTV (Television over Internet Protocol) and VOD (Video on Demand) distribution over the existing coaxial infrastructure in the home. MatrixStream’s secure, highly scaleable, fully integrated, end-to-end IPTV system – engineered to deliver and advance the home theater experience – has now adapted itself to Data-Over-Coax technologies. Utilizing Data-Over-Coax technology will enable MatrixStream’s broadband clients to easily direct via the cable TV infrastructure, VOD and IPTV services to every room of a given home that has a TV set and IMX 1020HD™ set top box; thereby, encouraging the sale of multiple STBs per household and IPTV/VOD related services. MatrixStream will also enable their broadband client’s to save money on their bandwidth costs by creating a master and slave STB system tied to coaxial infrastructure, which would greatly reduce bandwidth usage by VOD end users. The master STB will receive data for VOD content and then send it over the coaxial cable within a home to slave STBs at Data-Over-Coax speeds of up to 116 Mbps. Overall, these innovations will reduce bandwidth demand on a service provider’s backbone infrastructure to each home while increasing the ARPU for each subscriber. This will then re-allocate more bandwidth to other video related applications like IPTV and interactive gaming. End users will benefit by having fast, convenient access to quality programming and entertainment titles with no or very little wait time. http://www.matrixstream.com |
