Siemens BS deploys Anevia solutions for BBC IPTV servicesSeptember 27, 2007 – Siemens Business Services and IPTV technology provider Anevia have announced the deployment of their IPTV solutions in BBC head offices around the UK.
Siemens used Anevia technology for the introduction of an IPTV service for BBC staff, offering BBC and other channels delivered to their desktop and through IP set-top boxes (STBs). The service will include the Arabic TV channels for the new World Service Arabic News channel launching later this year, and over 100 TV and radio channels including worldwide and English TV channels, such as economy, news and sports. Siemens deployed Anevia’s Flamingo series for the broadcast of satellite and DTT channels, and Sunbird for the broadcast of internal channels from analogue signals. The Anevia headend has been successfully deployed in London, and is now being extended to BBC offices in Glasgow, Cardiff, Belfast and Birmingham. “Anevia is delighted to have been chosen and deployed by the BBC and Siemens,” said Damien Lucas, co-founder of Anevia. “This order involves a large number of Flamingos for each site implemented, and highlights Anevia top-level and carrier grade quality.” |
