SecureMedia acquired by Cavalier Telephone and TVAugust 20, 2007 – SecureMedia, a US digital media content protection specialist, has been acquired by local telco Cavalier Telephone and TV, the company has announced.
SecureMedia is to remain an independent company, providing services to current customers and pursuing new ones worldwide. The firm will also provide technology and services to Cavalier Telephone and TV as required to help with its long-term strategy and business development. “When Cavalier first started out to deliver advanced, custom-branded interactive IPTV services as an affordable alternative to cable or satellite TV, we examined and scrutinised several DRM technologies since media protection is a requirement to license and deliver premium Hollywood content and broadcast pay TV,” commented Brad Evans, Executive Chairman of Cavalier. Fred Ellis, CEO of SecureMedia went on to say that the takeover will enable the company to pursue new business opportunities and market segments with products that protect converged media distribution. “With Cavalier at the forefront of the IPTV industry, SecureMedia can dynamically experience and fully understand the IPTV ecosystem needs of the telco marketplace and address those needs with advanced, flexible security solutions.” |
