AT&T signs up 38,000 new subscribers to U-verse in Q2August 1, 2007 – US operator AT&T signed up 38,000 new subscribers to its U-verse service in the second quarter of 2007, bringing its total to 51,000.
The U-verse service offers IPTV, Internet access and will eventually offer Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). By the end of June 2007, 5.9% of AT&T’s primary consumer lines also had a video solution from AT&T, up from 3.8% a year earlier. U-verse is now available in parts of 23 metropolitan areas in the US. “AT&T has a strong foundation for growth in wireless and IP-based services, and in the second quarter we improved our trajectory in key areas,” said Randall Stephenson, Chairman and CEO of AT&T. “Our U-verse video service has begun to ramp aggressively.” AT&T posted a net profit of $2.9bn for the second quarter of 2007, up from the $1.8bn reported in the same period of the previous year. Revenue reached $29.5bn in the quarter ending June 30, compared to $15.8bn from the same period of the previous year. |
