GTA TeleGuam partners with CSI Digital and Avail Media to deliver high-definition IPTV

April 22, 2008 – Guam telco GTA TeleGuam has partnered with CSI Digital, a US provider of wholesale end-to-end solutions for service providers, and Avail Media, a US provider of linear and VoD MPEG-4 solutions, to deliver high-definition IPTV services to its subscribers on the island of Guam.

April 21, 2008 – Macedonian telco Makedonski Telekomunikacii (MakTel) has announced it is to re-brand itself under the name T-Home, becoming the first company in the international Deutsche Telekom group after Deutsche Telekom itself to implement the new integrated brand.

Report estimates nearly 10mn IPTV subscribers worldwide

April 21, 2008 – There were 9.9mn IPTV subscribers globally at the end of last year, more than double the previous year, according to a new report from consultancy firm Telecommunications Management Group (TMG).

Neuf Cegetel takeover gets go-ahead

April 17, 2008 – French mobile operator SFR has received the go-ahead from the country’s antitrust authorities to purchase a 28.45% stake in alternative local telco Neuf Cegetel from Louis Dreyfus group, giving SFR majority control with a 68.13% stake.
