Bridge Technologies launches Full Service Monitoring for IPTV middleware

July 15, 2008 - Norwegian firm Bridge Technologies has launched a new product called Full Service Monitoring (FSM), an extension of its VB20/220 IP probes, which allows IPTV operators to monitor the functionality of the middleware controlling their viewers' experiences.

BT to invest £1.5bn in fibre network

July 15, 2008 - UK incumbent telco BT has announced plans to invest £1.5bn in the deployment of fibre-based, super fast broadband to up to 10mn homes in the country by 2012, with top speeds of up to 100 Mbps by 2012 and the potential of over 1,000 Mbps in the future.

IPTV deployments double for second year in a row, says Broadband Forum

July 15, 2008 - The number of IPTV subscribers worldwide have more than doubled for the second year running in the 12 months to March 2008 and reached almost 15.5mn customers, according to research prepared for the Broadband Forum by market analysis firm Point Topic.

UTStarcom bags second Aksh Optifibre contract

July 14, 2008 - US firm UTStarcom has signed a new contract with Indian IPTV operator and optical fibre cable manufacturer Aksh Optifibre that expands the operator's deployment of UTStarcom's RollingStream IPTV platform to increase its reach and deliver services to subscribers of telco partner Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) in Mumbai.
