Harmonic MPEG-4 Part 10 encoders deliver broadcast TV for HanseNet IPTVTelecom Italia subsidiary HanseNet (HanseNet Telekommunikation GmbH), is adding television to its existing telephone and DSL services with a launch in Hamburg within the next few months, followed by a nationwide roll-out in Germany. The service will include 100 standard-definition broadcast TV channels plus VOD. If the deployment continues on schedule, the company could beat Deutsche Telekom to market with IPTV services. Deutsche Telekom says it will roll out IPTV to ten cities covered by its new VDSL network as soon as the high-speed infrastructure is working, and a spokesman says that will be “mid-year”. |

HanseNet uses ANT Fresco TV browser with ADB in GermanyJune 6th, 2006 - Telecom Italia subsidiary HanseNet has selected ANT's ANT Fresco TV browser technology for its hybrid DTT/IPTV deployment in Germany, branded 'Alice'. It is being integrated into Advanced Digital Broadcast's (ADB) ADB-3800TW high-definition ready MPEG-4 Part 10 (H.264/AVC) hybrid set-top box and ADB has licensed Fresco and Alcatel's OMC software from ANT for this purpose. The deal marks ADB's entry into the German market with ANT Fresco. ANT's TV browser is already a proven solution in Telecom Italia's Alice service in Italy. |

VCAS content protection deployed at US IPTV providers T2 and Arkwest June 5th, 2006 - The Verimatrix Content Authority System (VCAS) has been deployed on two more IPTV platforms to protect their programming assets from unauthorised use and copying. In Michigan, T2TV and T2 Communications have deployed the solution on their FTTH network, while in Arkansas, Arkwest Communications is using the content protection technology to add video services and so offer a full triple-play. In both cases, according to Verimatrix, the service providers turned to them in order to receive premium Hollywood content or broadcast channels. |
