Channel 4 Finland signs IPTV VOD deal with Disney-ABC

September 25, 2007 – Channel 4 Finland (Nelonen) has signed an IPTV Video on Demand (VOD) rental agreement with Disney-ABC International Television to bring US series such as Lost and Desperate Housewives on demand to viewers four days after being broadcast in the US.

Cisco announces IPTV service diagnosis tool and presents EANTC lab test results

September 25, 2007 – Cisco has announced a new software tool called IPTV SLA, which will enable IPTV service providers to diagnose video traversing Ethernet networks via IP multicast, and has also presented the results of an independent lab test for the scalability of the Cisco IP NGN Carrier Ethernet Design and Cisco Video Quality Experience (VQE) technology.

2.5mn German homes to subscribe to IPTV services by 2012, says BITKOM study

September 24, 2007 – There will be 2.5mn homes subscribing to IPTV services in Germany by the year 2012, according to a study conducted by consultancy Goldmedia and supported by the German Association of Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media (BITKOM).

September 21, 2007 – Nelson Wong Kam Fu, the Chairman of Smart Rich Energy Holdings, has told a media briefing that he has made a takeover offer to Hong Kong telco PCCW, however the IPTV provider has countered that it has not received a ‘credible proposal’, according to news portal ABC Money.

IBC2007 - Inuk Networks introduces ‘virtual set-top box’ for IPTV to the PC
