TEO ups IPTV subscribers to 25,000 in Q1

April 18, 2008 – Lithuanian telco TEO has announced that it reached 25,000 subscribers for its IPTV service at the end of the first quarter of this year, up from 17,500 at the end of last year.

Neuf Cegetel takeover gets go-ahead

April 17, 2008 – French mobile operator SFR has received the go-ahead from the country’s antitrust authorities to purchase a 28.45% stake in alternative local telco Neuf Cegetel from Louis Dreyfus group, giving SFR majority control with a 68.13% stake.

ATEME and Anystream partner on H.264 workflow

April 17, 2008 – French compression solutions provider ATEME and US firm Anystream have announced a partnership that will enable customers to combine the Anystream Media Lifecycle platform with ATEME’s Kyrion File Encoder for the creation and distribution of H.264 content.

Argentine government seeks new legislation to open TV market, “mother of all battles” expected

April 17, 2008 – The Argentine government of Cristina Kirchner is “willing to advance with a new [broadcasting] law” to open up the market to other players, according to the new auditor of the Federal Radio Broadcast Committee (Comfer), Gabriel Mariotto, speaking in an interview with local daily La Nación.
